This is just one of the memorable and unique features of the links at Ardglass Golf Club

Day 3 – Royal County Down
Royal County Down is located in one of the world’s most naturally beautiful links settings in the Murlough Nature Reserve. Against the magnificent backdrop of the Mountains of Mourne, the championship links stretches along the shores of Dundrum Bay, zigzagging back and forth to provide a different vista from virtually every hole.
The narrowest ribbons of fairways thread their way through as impressive a set of sand dunes as could be imagined. The fairways are surrounded by purple heather and golden gorse, so beautiful to look at but so punishing for any who may stray from the prescribed path.
The Annesley Links at Royal County Down shares the same magnificent setting as the Championship Links and is full of character. Although much shorter than the Championship Links, it is still a very testing course, with magnificent views of sea, mountains and duneland.
Travel to co Antrim and check into Roe Park Resort.

Day 4 – Castle Rock Golf Links
A true hidden gem in terms of golf courses. Stunning setting. Excellent conditioning and great place to have a few beers after the round not much more a golfer could ask for. Castlerock Golf Club, is a classic links course set amid towering dunes. Situated on the Causeway coast and only a 20 minute drive from both Royal Portrush Golf Club and Portstewart Golf Club, Castlerock is a more than worthy neighbour to both of these great Irish links.Founded in April 1901, the original course comprised nine holes and was laid out on the western part of the present course. Additional land was leased in 1908 and Ben Sayers, the professional from North Berwick in Scotland, was commissioned to design an eighteen hole layout. Though better known as a club maker, Sayers produced a superb layout and insisted that the links of Castlerock would equal those at Troon, North Berwick and Sandwich. Though not officially recorded, it is known that Harry Colt, while spending much time in Ireland with his work at Royal Portrush, was consulted regarding the redesign of the Castlerock links around 1930. Today, Castlerock is rated as one of Ireland’s finest links courses and its status in the game is reflected by the fact that it has hosted many National Championships both Amateur and Professional.

Day 5 – The Royal Portrush
Royal Portrush Golf Club is home to one of the best and most challenging links golf courses in the world, the Dunluce Links, and the hidden gem, the Valley Links. The only club in Ireland to have hosted The Open Championship, Royal Portrush is a members club which welcomes visitors all year round to face the challenges of its courses and to brave the testing conditions.
The Dunluce Links at Royal Portrush Golf Club ranks amongst the world’s greatest courses. Voted Number 12 in the world by Golf Magazine, it is a masterpiece of golf course architecture. Unimaginable rough and testing greens, combined with the unpredictable weather of the roaring North Atlantic make this course an admirable test for even the most seasoned golf aficionado.
Harry Colt, universally acknowledged as one of golf’s greatest course architects, used the natural contours and dunes of the links land at Portrush to create a legacy which attracts golfers from all across the globe. As the writer Bernard Darwin said, ‘Mr HS Colt…has thereby built himself a monument more enduring than brass’. The 6867 yard course, which has been extended to 7317 yards, is routed through rugged links land, and constantly changes in both direction and elevation, whilst all the time providing some of the most awe-inspiring scenery to be found in Ireland.

Day 6 – Explore Northern Ireland
This day will take you on a fantastic scenic route valleys, beaches and views of Scotland. The road trip, part of the A2 in Northern Ireland, called the Antrim Coast Road, is one of the most famous road trips in the world. A large section of the road is winding through the countryside, following the scenic coastline. Some parts are even built between large 100m high cliffs and the sea. The glens comprise of nine glens (valleys), that radiate from the Antrim Plateau to the coast. The Glens are an area of outstanding natural beauty and are a major tourist attraction in north Antrim. The main towns and villages in the Glens are Ballycastle, Cushendun, Cushendall, Waterfoot, Carnlough and Glenarm. The Glens are mentioned in the song “Ireland’s Call“.
The Giant’s Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns that were formed some million years ago by an ancient volcanic eruption. The tops of the columns form stepping stones that lead from the cliff foot and disappear under the sea. At some spots the columns are about 12 meters (39 ft) high, and 28 meters thick. This natural wonder alone is already worth the trip.
The Carrick a Rede rope suspension bridge links the mainland to the tiny Carrick Island. The bridge spans twenty meters and is hanging thirty meters above the rocks below Bushmills.
This little village is home to the world’s oldest licensed distillery: The Old Bushmills Distillery. The distillery’s range includes the Bushmills Original and Black Bush blends and the 10, 12, 16, and 21 year old Single Malts. Several of these whiskeys have won international prizes.
After the whiskey tasting we continue on the A2. Just after leaving Bushmills you can already see the Dunluce Castle ruins. These ruins are perfectly located on a spectacular headland. The castle is surrounded by extremely steep drops on either side and is only accessible via a bridge connecting it to the mainland. Lastly a visit to the dark hedges, these iconic trees have been used as a filming location in HBO’s epic series Game of Thrones, representing the King’s Road. After the eventful breath-taking day its time to relax in some luxury accommodation. Check into Belfast city Europa hotel
