It’s the largest enclosed public park of any European capital city. It was originally formed as a royal hunting Park in the 1660s and opened to the public in 1747. A large herd of fallow deer still remain to this day. The Park is also home to the Zoological Gardens, Áras an Uachtaráin, and Victorian flower gardens. Retire to your hotel.

Day 3

Cobh Spike Island

Check out of your Dublin hotel and stop at the Rock of Cashel in co. Tipperary on route to Cobh in co. Cork. The Rock of Cashel was the seat of the High Kings of Munster, although there is little structural evidence of their time here. Most of the buildings on the current site date from the 12th and 13th centuries when the rock was gifted to the Church. On arrival in Cobh explore the Titanic Experience and Queenstown Story tour at the Cobh Heritage centre . This titanic experience is located in casement square in the heart of Cobh town, the original white star line ticket office. Steeped in history and the departure point for thousands of passengers the titanic experience in Cobh is an unforgettable one. Learn about Irish Emigration story, trace your ancestors, hear about the ill-fated Titanic and the Lusitania, and immerse yourself in Irish naval and military history at Cobh Heritage Centre. Spend the evening exploring spike Island. In the last 1300 years Spike Island has been host to a 6th century Monastery, a 24 acre Fortress, the largest convict depot in the world in Victorian times and centuries of island homes. The island’s rich history has included monks and monasteries, rioters and redcoats, captains and convicts and sinners and saints. Check into your luxury accommodation.

Day 3

Waterford

Next a visit to Dunbrody Famine Ship is one of the premier tourist attractions in the South East of Ireland. Centred on an authentic reproduction of an 1840’s emigrant vessel, it provides a world-class interpretation of the famine emigrant experience. Next on this tour is a visit to Kilkenny to discover the medieval mile. Once the medieval capital of Ireland, the city has a rich medieval heritage visible though its narrow streetscapes; its historical buildings and landmarks. Highlights of this tour includes Kilkenny Castle, Medieval Mile Museum, Roth House, Smithwick’s Experience and St Canice’s Cathedral & Round Tower

Altamont Gardens is widely respected as the jewel in Ireland’s gardening crown, Altamont Gardens are an enchanting blend of formal and informal gardens with riverside walks covering over 40 acres (16 hectares). Recognised as one of the most beautiful gardens of Ireland, the estate gains much of its character from the many mature trees, natives in the avenues and woodland areas, and exotic specimens throughout the gardens. Next visit Powerscourt Waterfall is Ireland’s highest at 121m (398ft.) and is 6km from the Main Estate. It is set in one of Ireland’s most beautiful parklands at the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains. Powerscourt Gardens is one of the most beautiful gardens in Ireland! Powerscourt Gardens were recently voted No.3 in the World’s Top Ten Gardens by National Geographic.

The stud, a unique attraction of outstanding natural beauty that is home to some of the most magnificent horses and sumptuous gardens to be found anywhere in the world. The Irish National Stud’s Japanese Gardens, renowned throughout the world and the finest of their kind in Europe, are far more than simply a treat for the eye. They also provide comfort to the soul, achieving exactly the objective that was set out when the gardens were created between 1906 and 1910.

Day 6

Co. Offaly

Visit Clonmacnoise in Co Offaly. Dating from 545AD, the extensive remains of a cathedral, round tower, high crosses and no fewer than seven churches belie their boggy remoteness. Truth be told, Clonmacnoise was once a leading centre of religion and learning in Europe. Established by St Ciarán Mac a tSaor (“son of the carpenter”). Visit Tullamore distillery, the home of whiskey making. Enjoy a guided tour some whiskey tasting and a spot of lunch.

Day 7

Meath

Today you will visit Loughcrew Cairns The Cairns at Slieve na Calliagh, are of huge historical importance. With their beginnings stretching back over 5,000 years, they are even older than Newgrange. The legends and stories that surround the tombs have kept it extremely well preserved. Next you will visit the hill of Tara. The Hill of Tara, located near the River Boyne, is an archaeological complex that runs between Navan and Dunshaughlin in County Meath, Leinster, Ireland. It contains a number of ancient monuments, and, according to tradition, was the seat of Árd Rí na hÉireann, or the High King of Ireland. You will then visit the archaeological landscape within Brú na Bóinne which is dominated by the three well-known large passage tombs, Knowth, Newgrange and Dowth, built some 5,000 years ago in the Neolithic or Late Stone Age.
